Rob Edwards along with O'Neil are two of the early names under consideration to succeed the former manager as head coach of Wolves.

Pereira was sacked on the weekend following the squad's 10-match without a victory beginning to the Premier League campaign.

And Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have previous links to the club - are among the names to be evaluated by the Wolves leadership.

The manager is presently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a possible hurdle to his hiring at Molineux.

However the ex- Luton Town head coach - who made over a century of games for Wolves during his playing career - is considered a leading contender for the vacancy.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the Wolves directors as they start the process of appointing a fresh head coach.

O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise contender, although he would be a surprising choice given he was sacked by the club in the previous winter.

The former West Ham midfielder is out of work which means Wolves would not need to provide any compensation.
