Nigel Farage Accuses Educators of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics

The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike shortly after a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by telling children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

During an event for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his viewpoint on British schools, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I expect a teachers’ strike very quickly after winning the next general election,” he remarked in response to questions.

“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They inform little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is a victim and a white child of the same age that he is a perpetrator. They create division, not uniting us. They promote this negative culture.”

Reacting to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede rejected the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these immediately upon entering government.

“Farage has built his political career on dog-whistle politics and currently, similar to other figures, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a fight,” the union leader said.

“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, particularly schooling … and the outcome would be catastrophic for students and learning.”

Reform, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has provided limited specifics on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have appointed an education spokesperson.

Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks indicated the group would reform the educational framework. He said: “We face an enormous task with schooling – truly monumental. And, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”

He stated that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Honoring a conservative activist, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind as opposed to what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”

Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.

Farage has accused Kebede of being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted at school, their minds should be poisoned about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.

Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The leading teachers’ organization has about 450,000 members.

Countrywide walkouts over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for students.

At the US event, Farage also vowed to promote the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He stated such groups were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I am serious. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of young people to these educational programs. I pledge this tonight and I’ll do that.”

The college, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for free to every interested learner.”
