British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday evening. The athlete was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.
Honoring the Deceased
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital comes as the boxing community had expressed its support for the fighter in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
